EL ETNEN
2022
90 x 155 x 325 cm
Clay, zinc, brass, threaded rods, bolts, rivets
"EL ETNEN witness the artist's interest in fables and their imagination throughout ages and geographies – Ésope, La Fontaine, and the Bible are evoked here. Objects, and consequently beings, strive to transcend their contingent condition to live and travel together. Endowed with a new malleability, clay and metals create interdependencies. The artist emphasizes the possibilities of interaction between strength and fragility. How can we transform and evolve by negotiating a shared social and territorial mobility? Why not be friends with those who are stronger or wealthier than oneself? How can we challenge what we have been taught? The artwork defies the perception of received ideas."

ODDS ARE is an installation composed of several sculptures. The basket evokes the African tradition of weaving, this container facilitating travel, protecting privacy. Each basket woven in zinc, a material used for the roofs of Paris, becomes protection and armor, a storyteller of bodily narratives.
